  2. I request everyone to keep an eye peeled for old equipment---whether field machinery such as a wheat harvester, or old processing equipment such as bean shellers or corn huskers.

There are many such old items which would prove very useful to local growers in growing and processing crops, and enabling us to grow bulk quantities of things like beans and grains which require equipment lest you be processing Medieval-style and take forever...

  5. Thinking of building a small greenhouse? I'm working on a source of thermal windows, 2nds, cheap, possibly around $25/ea.

If everyone who wants to put up a greenhouse communicates here or to me 575-536-3331, we could put together an order and buy a whole load of them.

This should be getting finalized by Jan 10 or so... so let me know.

  7. I'm interested in furthering knowledge and energy towards local greenhouses. As the weather will be getting cooler and summer crops fading, it will be time to think of extending our growing season through cold frames and greenhouses. I assume there are a lot more greenhouses in the area than I know about and I'd like to be able to see some of them and share experiences with others. My experience is from having an attached greenhouse to my passive solar adobe that I made 30 yrs ago out in the Mimbres. It was heat for the house, added humidity and oxygen for me and co2 for the plants. I ended up selling the house before I got much growing knowledge, and moved to town. That was 25 yrs ago. As time and money permits, I intend to have a greenhouse under my south facing porch to grow greens during the winter months. I'd like to organize a tour of willing greenhouse growers in the area with those interested in building their own. From small to large, I'm sure there is a lot of knowledge of what grows well, what doesn't, how to take care of insect pests without poisons, how to create mass to stabilize temperature swings etc. If you are interested in sharing your knowledge as a grower (or know someone who will)or participating in the tour to gain knowledge please respond to this post, email mikesauber@gmail.com, or call me

    Thanks,
    Michael
